FOR PATIENTS INQUIRING ABOUT CORONAVIRUS VACCINE:
Vaccine against the virus that causes COVID-19 has become available. The first doses to arrive in our county have been assigned to hospital workers who care for COVID-19 patients, and this is already in progress. As more doses arrive in SLO County, the vaccine will become available to more people. The best way to find out about these plans is to go online to ReadySLO.org, tap on the yellow banner labelled “COVID-19 Updates” and scroll down to the box labelled “Vaccine Planning Information.” When the vaccine becomes available to you, you will see it announced on that site, with information on how to schedule a vaccination appointment.
The physicians of Arroyo Medical Group strongly encourage you to get the vaccine when it becomes available to you, and do not wait until we have a supply to give, as we will not have it in our office until long after the public health department is offering it. Until you are instructed to do otherwise by health authorities, continue to wear masks and keep social distancing and hygiene practices to the best of your ability.
Again, look at ReadySLO.org and click on “Covid 19 updates.”

Letter to Patients April 2020
April 13, 2020
Dear Patients of Arroyo Medical Group,
We wanted to keep you up to date about the goings on here at AMG. We know these are strange and difficult times and we hope that you are staying well and staying safe. The “shelter-in-place” order can be difficult, both physically and emotionally. We want you to know that we are here for you! We are open and we are doing whatever it takes to take care of our patients. Please reach out to us should you have any questions or concerns regarding COVID-19 or any other medical issues.
Here at AMG, we have been doing our part to keep the spread of the virus at bay, while maintaining the best patient care. We have a specialized triage for assessing patients for COVID-19 and testing appropriate patients. We have designated a temporary testing site just outside the building. The providers are wearing full personal protective equipment when caring for suspected COVID-19 patients.
In a further effort to minimize the spread of the virus, we have asked many of our employees to work from home, and they have graciously agreed to do so. We currently have as few people as possible circulating through the office. For those physically in the office, we have been wearing masks, disinfecting all surfaces regularly and following all other CDC guidelines.
In effort to do our part in social distancing, we have been converting as many of our patient's appointments to telephone or video calls when appropriate. We appreciate your concerns with leaving the house and thank you for doing your part as well! We have found the telephone and video appointments to be very effective, and both physicians and patients have commented that these "telemedicine" visits are convenient and beneficial. We want to let our patients know that you do not need to cancel your appointments. We will find a way to communicate with you and take care of you in the safest way possible. In the days preceding your appointment, a staff member will reach out to you and help you determine if a telemedicine appointment is appropriate for you, and help you get it set up.
We are also reaching out to let you know that once the shelter in place has been lifted, we are expecting a surge of appointment requests. We realize a great many of you will want to be seen quickly and we plan on doing everything possible to make that happen. We will be working extended hours and will be triaging appointments based on medical needs. Many of you have delayed your physical exams and other routine health care visits, and we wish to thank you for doing your part in staying home as well!
We want to thank you in advance for your patience and understanding in the scheduling or your future appointment. We also want to apologize in advance if there is any delay in your “post-COVID-19” appointment. If you do have any urgent medical needs, please know that you do not need to wait for the shelter in place to be lifted. We want to help you now. Call us or message us on the patient portal and we will work something out that suits your needs. Any patient that needs to be seen in person will be seen. For those that can stay home we will schedule "virtual visits" via phone or video if appropriate.
We thank you for trusting us at AMG with your care. It is a pleasure and an honor that we hold sacred.
Sincerely,
