Cary Fitchmun, M.D.

David Ruiz, M.D.
Dr. Ruiz earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Redlands in California and obtained his medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. He stayed in Los Angeles to complete a three-year Family Medicine Residency Program at White Memorial Medical Center.
He and his wife moved to the Central Coast to raise their three boys twenty years ago. He enjoys exploring the outdoors, hiking, fishing, and biking. Dr. Ruiz plays the guitar and sings in his church choir. Continuing his musical interests, he has sung with the San Luis Obispo Vocal Arts Ensemble for seven years. As a Board Certified Family Physician, Dr. Ruiz provides high quality medical care with an emphasis on prevention. He works closely with his patients to help them achieve and maintain healthy habits to nurture mind, body, and spirit. |
Dewey Sandberg, M.D.
Dewey Sandberg, M.D., has been practicing Family Medicine on the Central Coast since 1992, and with his partners at Arroyo Medical Group for over ten years.
Originally from Spokane, Washington, he grew up in Santa Clara, California. He attended Stanford University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 1979. With a number of career choices before him, and with the influences of the lives of important mentors in his life, he chose to pursue a career in Medicine. He was admitted to the California College of Medicine at UC Irvine, and graduated in 1984. The many experiences in medical school, covering all medical specialties, prompted him to choose to enter Family Medicine. He entered the Family Practice residency at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento in 1984. With the guidance of some remarkable physicians over these years, he developed a deep commitment to the concept of ongoing doctor-patient relationship, with emphasis on preventive medicine, and personalized care in promoting wellness, as well as in treating disease. He and his wife, Debbie, have been married for over 30 years, and count their two grown sons as their greatest blessings. They both had the privilege of growing up in this town and attending Cal Poly in their chosen fields of software engineering and graphic communications. Now, after almost three decades of the practice of Family Medicine, he has the privilege of living and working in this beautiful part of California, with a group of physicians and staff that share the same strong desire to give every one of his patients the attentive and highly competent care that he would want for his own loved ones. Megan Malzone, M.D.
Dr. Megan Malzone comes to us from Ventana Health, where she has been in private practice for the last 10 years. She completed her residency training at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Internal Medicine. She attended University of Washington School of Medicine where she received her medical degree. She has an interest in women’s health, diabetes, and complex medical issues. She is well known for her personal bedside manner and thoroughness in patient care. Dr. Malzone enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, hiking, yoga and the arts.

Mary Lowery, M.D.
Dr. Mary Lowery started practicing as a board certified Internal Medicine Physician in 1991 when she finished an Internal Medicine residency at Baylor University in Dallas, TX. She started her career in Texas and spent 10 years at the University of Texas at Tyler medical system where she became a Professor of Medicine. She also spent time working at Tyler Internal Medicine Associates, a private group, prior to moving to California. She now practices general Internal Medicine with Arroyo Medical Group, Inc and performs Well Woman Exams as well as Medicare annual wellness exams. She treats a wide array of diseases including hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol issues, thyroid disease and skin disease.
She has a family with two children. She loves the Central Coast area for the beautiful weather and the great people. |
Amanthi Chandrasena, MD (starting 1/1/24)Dr. Amanthi Chandrasena is a board certified family physician. She grew up in Palm Springs, CA and received her medical degree from the Medical University of Lublin. She completed her family practice residency at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, where she was elected Chief Resident. Dr. Chandrasena loves family medicine and prides herself on the great connection
she shares with her patients. Her passion is preventive wellness and helping her patients achieve their best health. She enjoys spending time on California’s central coast with her husband and twin daughters. |
